High Notes, Vol 11 No 7, March 12 2010

From the Principal
High Talent
Congratulations to the first and second grade tennis teams who both had
wins against Shore on Saturday. The boys in first grade did very well as a team to take two
doubles matches, then Arman Abdollahi (Year 11) inspired them with a tough win against an
experienced opponent. Patrick Rynsaardt and Frank Zhang (Year 9) went on to seal the first GPS
win in three seasons.
Big Night Out
A delicious multicultural menu is being prepared for this gathering of
the School Family. The entertainment is ready. Many people are working very hard to make this
event a success. All we need now is your support!
The Great Hall Kitchen
We have taken possession of a major new asset for our school
in the form of the Great Hall Kitchen. It has the very latest in commercial appliances. It is
capable of cooking and serving meals for 200. As well as National Schools Pride funding of
$200,000, the ̽»¨ÊÓƵ Foundation released $30,000 of the Raymond Casey Bequest to top
up the grant. The total cost of the project ex-GST was $232,000. The commercial kitchen will
require considerable management to preserve it. Training in the 22 appliances was provided by the
kitchen consultant. Certain major pieces of equipment are reserved for the use of qualified
catering staff. Laminated directions for using the equipment will be posted in the facility
shortly. Members of the School Family booking in and using the kitchen are requested to follow
all instructions and respect the restrictions imposed. Above all else the asset needs to be kept
clean and devoid of goods, equipment or food left over after events in the Great Hall.
Preliminary discussions with interested parties have revealed that the possibility of leasing the
facility to a professional caterer is quite viable. That would mean that all school functions to
be held in the Great Hall would use the school caterer. Given the budget constraints of
celebration dinners for students, a prospective caterer would have to be prepared to supply
decent meals for 200 at around $25 per head. If you have any feedback about the proposal please
email or call. .
Early morning bus behaviour
It was encouraging to receive another positive comment
about bus behaviour on the early morning service from Central. It seems the popularity of the
service has meant there is a spill over into normal bus schedules on some occasions. A commuter
from UNSW was very impressed with the demeanour of our students, especially in them thanking the
driver when alighting at their destination.
High Junior School - Literacy Enhancement Program
Last year we ran a program to
develop the literacy skills of a group of Year 7 students. This was the first stage of a three
year plan to make a difference in literacy by the time of the NAPLAN tests in Year 9. After
evaluation, it was found that a number of targeted students no longer needed assistance with
their literacy development while others not in the targeted group did. A reselected Year 8 group
will continue to be supported by the Literacy Team. I know that parents of students chosen to
have the school’s assistance in this program will encourage and support their sons to grasp
this improvement opportunity.
Dr K A Jaggar
World’s Greatest Shave
On Monday 15th March, many students and staff will be shaving their heads for the Leukaemia
Foundation and lymphoma research. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause you can do so
at
and looking up the team “Sydney High”. .
SRC Events: Developing skills in leadership
A new SRC for 2010
Each year the student body of Sydney Boys High School are given
the opportunity to apply for an important leadership position on the school Student
Representative Council. Applications involve students vowing that they will commit to the
position and work hard throughout the year to represent their peers. Names of applicants from
each year are submitted to an online voting site on the SBHS SRC website. Voting is preferential
and not compulsory. As a result, six students are elected from each year to represent their
peer/year group. These students are required to join committees on the council and attend regular
Friday lunchtime meetings. If students fulfil their role satisfactorily with the committees they
are part of throughout the year, they are honoured with a badge and may purchase an SRC tie.
In Term 4 2009, the SRC elected an executive (President, Vice President and Secretary) to run the
meetings and give direction in 2010. The students elected online in Term 1 as committee members
from Years 7-12 have recently been announced at the Junior and Senior Assemblies and printed by
Dr Jaggar in the High Notes.
For a second year, the SRC together with the leaders of the Community Service committee will be
part of a training day at the Outterside centre March 19th lead by a group named Rising
Generations. A thank-you to Mr Walker (Head of Welfare), Mr Coan (Leadership Co-ordinator), Mr
Cipolla (Careers Advisor) and Ms Kaye (Community Service facilitator) for helping me make this
day possible for the boys.
The SRC gives students the opportunity to learn about group work, running meetings, working on
committees, responsibility, commitment and leadership. SRC members get the opportunity to go to
regional and state SRC meetings as well as a range of leadership development and motivational
seminars. It is a council voted in by the students, run by the students for the students of
Sydney Boys High. Mrs Collignon, Teacher facilitator, works alongside the SRC to help with
elections, excursions, meetings and getting ideas off the ground.
Watch this space for more on the SRC’s activities throughout the year. Best of luck,
boys!!
Mrs Collignon.
REGIONAL MEETING REPORT TERM 1
The first regional SRC meeting of 2010 was hosted by
Randwick Girls High on the 4th of March. It was the perfect start to the year with a variety of
discussions, quality food and a great workshop kindly set up by Family Planning NSW. The main
issue raised was discrimination of any kind in schools and how to raise awareness and tackle any
such issues.
We were privileged enough to hear from two brave, same-sex attracted individuals who had suffered
much discrimination and injustice during their high school years. Their stories were truly
touching and gave students a new insight into tackling homophobia. They very much wished that
their message be spread.

NEWS FROM LATIN
Salvete omnes! On Tuesday, 9th March, 42 students of Latin sat the NATIONAL LATIN EXAM, an annual
international exam organised by Mary Washington College, Virginia State University, U.S.A. Last
year, 110 countries participated in this prestigious examination. Last year was also the first
time Sydney Boys High participated, and the results - several gold and silver medals and two
scholarship offers - were outstanding.
Best wishes for good results to all who took part this year!
Each year, a special prize, the Barton Scholarship, is awarded to students who have achieved
excellent results in Classics (Latin and/or Classical Greek) in the Higher School Certificate,
and then continue with the study of Latin or Greek at University.
Two of our students, who gained 4th and 5th places in the State in the Higher School Certificate
for Classical Greek last year, are currently studying Latin and Greek at Sydney University.
This is the type of student the award is aimed at.
Any student who is currently studying Latin or Greek at Senior level, and is considering
continuing with the Classical Languages at University, may see Ms Matsos if they wish to learn
more about this award.

NEW FICTION REVIEWED – BY YEAR 9
Eagle Day Book Review
Robert Muchamore, well known for his series, Cherub, is
now into his 3rd novel of a new series called Henderson’s Boys. Eagle Day is the second
novel of this series. Secret Army is scheduled to come out in 2010. Muchamore used children as
spies as he thinks this is the best disguise. Eagle Day, is set in France where Hitler is
planning to invade Britain.
There are some thrilling aspects to the novel which will you keep reading. Muchamore
unfortunately, includes excessive detail of daily life on a farm which slows down the pace of the
book in the middle but as we get to the end including the climax, the last 100 pages include
tense, exhilarating scenes of the children’s’ preparation of bombs and explosives to
direct the British air raiders (RAF) where to bomb.
Importantly there are some very interesting themes in the book which raise it above the average
fun, action packed novels. First of all, survival and belonging are key themes as they are trying
to fit in with the countryside society and their lives are at stake as well as the British
population. Furthermore, trust is an important sub text as they don’t know each other and
must develop trust for them to carry out their plan.
Muchamore makes his use of child heroes realistic by making the children foolish and immature in
the beginning but mature at the end of the book through facing hazards and death. The children
experience difficulties such as Marc having to work as a translator at the age of 13, Paul coming
in contact with Germans, Rosie killing someone and PT being sentenced to death and punished along
with Marc.
At the climax the children have to try to protect themselves when they’ve never held a gun
or killed anyone. This climax and suspense is the really positive aspect of the book and
it’s such a shame that the middle of the book takes a long time to develop or else it would
be an excellent fast paced book which would surely get many readers to read this book.
I really liked the beginning and ending of the book as it was filled with a lot of exhilarating
scenes as well as including interesting themes. The middle didn’t fit in with the other
Robert Muchamore books where the whole novel was filled with thrilling scenes. Nevertheless, I
would rate Eagle Day 9 out of 10. There are some deaths in this book and I would probably
recommend it to children over 12. However, Muchamore’s writing lures us in with emotions
and thrill as he creates atmosphere such as fear and tension. This really gets pages
turning.

PORTALS AND YEAR 7
In the last couple of weeks all Year 7 classes have had a couple
of library orientation lessons. Boys were all asked to show their parents their Portal. If your
son forgot or assumed you would not be interested it might be very useful to you to have a look
at his Portal. Information parents can find useful are:
The dates of your son’s absences, contact details (check that the school has your email
address not his and keep your home address and your phone numbers up to date), your son’s
daily subject timetable, up to date Saturday sport information, your son’s library loans,
an up to date Library catalogue to assist him to find resources to help with homework, your
son’s print account and, finally, online past Science and Maths papers to help him study
for semester exams.

DONATIONS
Much appreciated visit from Old Boy/Author Greg Babic
Thanks to Old Boy/author Greg
Babic who came in person to present two recently published novels to our Library. They are:
The Profile a novel aimed at mid school readers and The Last Loose End, an adult
“thriller”. We look forward to reviewing them in a future High Notes.
Thanks to Mrs Cathy Meaney mother of Jackson (2009) for her thoughtfulness in donating three
lovely books to the library – No place like home, Mary Higgins Clark; Matthew
Flinders Cat, Bryce Courtenay, Heritage, Judy Nunn. House cleanup donations are very
welcome as many adult books suit our Senior Students. (We have tightened up our publication date
limit to 10 years). Please keep those donations coming!

Red Cross Ambasadors
Youngbloods Red Cross Ambassadors
On Thursday, 25 February 2010, SBHS Community
Service Committee Shadow Executives Andrew Gaffney and Yale Wong attended the Youth Ambassador
Training Day at the Red Cross headquarters at Clarence Street. The exciting day of lectures,
seminars, free food and tours allowed us to take up invaluable information regarding the
importance of blood donations in the Australian community.
Did you know that one single donation of 470mL (which takes only 24 hours for the human body to
replenish) will help to save three lives? Or that one in three Australians will require blood
transfusions during the course of their lifetime; yet only 1 in 30 Australians actually give
blood.
That's why the Red Cross is calling for your help to be an unsung hero. Each donor will also be
given a free health assessment and told their blood type.
The SBHS Community Service Committee is working swiftly to organise a blood drive with Sydney
Girls High to be held on Monday 29 March 2010 (Term 1 Week 10). Participants must be over
16 years of age and over 50kg. Keep an ear out for more information closer to the date!

Theatresports Evening
This term in Drama students have been learning many skills in the art of Improvisation,
Characterisation, Playbuilding and Physical Theatre. They have learnt the fundamentals
of THEATRESPORTS, a form of improvised games, performed in teams, which uses the format of
a competition for dramatic effect.
Participation in Theatresports develops confidence, lateral thinking, storytelling, self
expression, teamwork and communication skills. To complete this unit we will be hosting our
Second Annual Theatresports Evening.
When: Thursday 25 March 2010 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Where: Drama Studio (Room 204)
This promises to be an exciting theatrical experience with scenes presented from the Year 9 and
10 Drama classes.
The two top performing teams on the night (one from each Year group) will represent SBHS at the
sixth annual Theatresports® Schools Challenge (TSC) and take part in heats with other schools
from across NSW. The TSC takes place in term two of 2010 (19th April – 2nd July).
Winning schools will progress to take part in the qualifying finals in June and the top teams in
each division will go into a Grand Final at the Enmore Theatre in late June.
Your support and attendance at the Theatresports Evening is greatly appreciated.
If you have any further questions please contact me at the school on 93616910. Thank you, Jennie

High Tide
Sydney Boys High School Sailing
Saturday March 6th:
Pumped after the Tri-series, the High squad was back to normal
Saturday schools racing with Scots and Cranbrook. With no wind early in the morning we found
ourselves paddling across to Rose Bay - an unexpected warm-up before racing.
The first race was sailed in patchy wind and with a crammed start line, there was a lot of dirty
air and it took a while for the fleet to get going. High boats were placed very well with Daniel
Fang (Year 8) reaching the first mark in 2nd place – outstanding, especially considering
Daniel was skippering for just the second time.
Ennes Mehmedbasic (Year 10) sailed cleverly and finished way ahead of the main fleet coming 4th.
Marcus James (Year 9) finished the first race 7th and Alex Saunders (Year 12) finished 8th.
For the start of the second race we used Sydney Boys’ renowned intelligence to good
advantage. Combining some handy teams racing skills and through good communication, High
dominated the favoured boat end of the start line. With a minute to go before the start, we had
four High boats in a row parked on the line next to the starter boat. Ennes Mehmedbasic yet again
sailed brilliantly finishing 4th, Marcus James finished 7th, Daniel Fang coming in 8th and Bart
Daniels (Year 10) finishing in 9th place in a field of over 20.
The High sailing team yet again showed great consistency in its sailing and also teamwork. These
are promising signs with two major events on the sailing calendar fast approaching- the NSW
School Teams Racing Championships and CHS.
Marcus James (Yr 9)
Junior Sailing Captain
̽»¨ÊÓƵ Sailing Association had its 3rd Annual General Meeting on Saturday 6th March.

Mr Hayman’s Team of the Week: 16Bs
This side had a thrilling 1 point victory
over a team that dominated them 53-9 in term 4 last year.
By Mr Hayman
100th Edition of Shootin’ Hoops: Performance Against Shore
First Grade were
able to come through with a massive 84-59 win against Shore and they are now clearly the form
team of the competition. 4ths, 6ths, 7ths, 16Bs, 16Cs, 16Es, ALL OF THE 15s and the 14Es managed
to pick up some great wins. Without a doubt, several teams were unlucky not to win their matches
despite playing exceptionally well, with 2nds losing narrowly, 45-46, 5ths losing by a point and
8ths losing by 2 (the final shot High scored that could have sent the game into OT, was less than
half second late).
Support 1sts and 2nds!
With a home game this week, we hope to have a massive home
crowd there to support 1sts and 2nds. Be there to watch 2nds play Scots at 10:00 and then 1sts
will take on Scots at 11:15. Don’t miss out!

1st Grade Report
High went to Tennis World brimming with confidence after a solid
showing at Ignatius last week and were looking to do some serious damage against traditional
powerhouse Shore. The mood was set within the opening 15 mins with High taking commanding leads
in all three doubles matches. The No 1 doubles took the first set 6-1 in a defiant display, while
No 2 and No 3 doubles also gained one set advantages. High rounded out the doubles winning the No
2 and No 3 doubles in straight sets in a convincing manner while No 1 doubles were mightily
unlucky to go down in the super tiebreaker. The score line read High 2 Shore 1. High kept the
pressure up in the singles with Arman Abdollohi and Patrick Rynsaardt playing some
exquisite tennis against solid opponents to take first set leads in their respective matches.
Patrick won in straight sets to put High in a commanding position at 3 matches to 1, however the
highlight of the day came in the form of a gripping match between the No 1's. After winning the
first set, Arman lost a tight second set and was forced into a third. Down a break for the
majority of the last set, Arman showed immense character to stick with his opponent finally
getting the break back at 5-4 down. Arman went on to play a superb tie-breaker and win the match.
By playing consistent tennis and wearing his opponent down, Frank took the match out in straight
sets and rounded out a great day for High tennis. This was the first time in 4 years that High
has won a regular season rubber and we will definitely make sure that it isn't the last this
year. High will take this win, and look to do even better next week against Scots College.
Mohit Tugnait
1st Grade Captain
2nd Grade Report
After a disappointingly close 5-4 loss, High headed into the bottom
of the table clash against Shore brimming with confidence. Initial reports of rain dampened High
spirits on the Friday before the clash as we were hoping to extend our 5 point lead over Shore in
the 2nds points score. After rising bright and early and getting to the courts a good hour before
I was required, I was met with dazzling sunshine and the opportunity to play some great tennis.
Keen to make our last home game this season, and for the Year 12s their whole school lives, a
memorable one, High started off the day on a shaky note with the normally formidable Doubles One
pairing of Lachlan Day and David Ghezelbash going down in straight sets. However, a
6-2 6-3 doubles win by myself and Thomas Nguyen meant High would go into the singles down
2 matches to 1. A monumental task awaited us as we required 4 singles wins to take out the
rubber, something we had never done before this season. However, myself and Thomas Nguyen
got High onto a great start, with Thomas blitzing his opponent 6-0 6-1 in record time and myself
winning in three sets, 6-1 4-6 6-4. Up 6-1 4-1, I found myself down 2-0 in the third set after
losing eight consecutives games. However, I managed to secure a vital win for High and eagerly
awaited the conclusion of the other singles matches. Lachlan Day showed again his
infallible form, winning his singles match 6-4 6-2, taking his singles winning percentage to 75%,
the best record of any player by far. After Edward Qiu lost in a dramatic third set, it
was up to David Ghezelbash and Anton Brokman to secure the tie for High. Serving
for the match, David was broken and eventually lost the second set in a tie breaker. However, his
gritty determination showed as he outlasted his opponent in the third set, eventually taking the
match and the rubber with a 6-3 third set win. Whilst Anton Brokman suffered a straight
sets lost to a very strong Shore opponent, High had clinched the day by 5 matches to 4, giving
High 8 valuable points and boosting them 9 points ahead of Shore in the GPS standings, only 4 off
Grammar. High eagerly await the remaining rubbers against Scots and the final showdown against
Grammar to hopefully retain a higher ranking than previously expected.
Frank Li
2nd Grade Captain
3rd Grade Report
Many philosophers maintain the key to survival is the ability to
adapt. With the resurgence of High tennis throughout this season, it was essential for depth to
survive to provide a thriving, competitive environment. The reinvigoration of 3rd grade against
traditional powerhouses Shore demonstrates the revival of High tennis. In the first doubles pair,
Kit Man and Vivin demonstrated intelligent communication and perfect point construction to take
out the win. Paul and Justin played aggressively but lost 2-6, possibly due to overconfidence. In
his singles match, Justin took advantage of humid conditions, using his superior physique,
service game, and control to exhaust his opponent to the point where he could hardly serve, in
the process of winning 6-3. Kit Man battled relentlessly with heightened top spin shots to clear
the net. The long rallies proved to be his downfall however, as he lost in a closely fought tie
breaker. Paul responded to his opponents’ passive game by playing an aggressive and
unorthodox style, taking to the net and killing points early, to win 6-4. Vivin demonstrated his
'Federer-esque' form, continuing his winning streak at the number 1 position through playing
within himself, yet easily pulling off a calculated and comfortable win, 6-3.
This 3rd grade win is indicative of the quality of depth tennis has, and is a great reward for
the commitment of perennial commander in chief Mr Boros.
Justin Chan
3rd Grade Captain
The Ladder after 5 Rounds
After the monumental win in both firsts and seconds, the
ladders for each division are looking strikingly different. The win has meant that firsts are now
tied with Shore, and look to record positive results against Scots and Grammar to try to close
the 2 point and 4.5 point gap between Grammar and Iggies respectively. The win in seconds has
boosted them to 9 points clear of Shore and well within striking distance of Grammar and Joeys.
The boys are eager and look forward to these coming rubbers. I urge anyone playing at the same
locations to stop by for a few minutes and offer a few words of support, as this can make all the
difference.

Head of the River
Saturday 27 March 2010
Only two weeks until the Head of the River and we are looking
forward to it. It is the day everyone works towards, a day filled with history and tradition,
where all schools congregate with school pride. We are there too, with our Stage Band, High
chants, colours and banners. If there is one day you should experience while at High it is the
Head of the River!
Students need to collect their permission form and return it to the main office by Wednesday 24
March. Cost is $15 including travel by bus to Penrith – Sydney International Regatta
Centre. The buses leave the school at 8:00am and return to the school at 1:30pm. See you
there…

Rowing Dinner
We had nearly every rower, and many parents, pack the Great Hall for
the School Rowing Dinner on Wednesday night. It was a very special night for the boys as they now
approach the big races at the end of their season. I think everyone in the Hall would have been
impressed with our rowers. The speeches and presentation of crews were outstanding by Max
Jones, Year 10 VIIIs, Stephen Comninos, Year 8 Quads, Edwin Li, Year 9 Quads,
and Andrew Blomberg, School IVs and VIIIs and Captain of Boats. There was something very
special about seeing our boys formally introduced onto the stage ....in their crews, in full
school uniform and standing proud! It was a very enjoyable evening.
Results – Newington Regatta
Congratulations to our School 2nd VIII –
Max Kite, Ryan Caetano, Ben Li, Tim Gollan, Koren Fang, Eric Ovadia, Jonah Petrie, Ilya

their heat finishing 2nd to Kings in a time of 4.57.73 over 1500m. They came 4th in the final to
Riverview 1st Shore 2nd, and Kings 3rd in a time of 5.11.00.

Good luck to all the crews at the Riverview Gold Cup this week

Sydney Boys High Cricket
Although we did not achieve the successes we thought were possible as a result of the Day 1
finishes for our Group 1 teams, there was some pretty good cricket played by a number of our
teams from the seniors to our most junior teams,
In particular, from the sporting declaration of the 15A team which drew plaudits from the
opposition coach, players and particularly the Riverview parents in what turned out to be a cliff
hanger. The 3rd XI suffered a defeat due mainly through dropped catches but were more competitive
in other areas and had Riverview worried until they passed our score. The 14A team went down
fighting getting to within 53 runs in their first bat and achieving a restricted loss by leaving
Riverview unable to secure more than 1st innings points.
The 5ths and 4ths had convincing wins and the 15 B team completely routed the Riverview batsmen
and had them all back in the pavilion for a total of 46 and then passing their score no wkts
down. So as players turn their attention towards winter sports, we are displaying encouraging
signs for pre-season training and the lead up to next season.
CRICKET DINNER and PRESENTATION of AWARDS:

the 10 prize raffle as there are some great prizes. The boys are required to wear school uniform

ATHLETICS 2010 - Information for Athletes and their Parents
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 3000M RACE STARTS AT 8.15AM
I would like to warmly welcome all athletes, new and old, and their families to the 2010 season.
Sydney Boys High School offers boys the opportunity to compete in the prestigious GPS Athletics
competition. The GPS Athletic season is run in the last four weeks of Term 3. The season
culminates in the AAGPS Athletics carnival held at Homebush. Here the nine GPS schools compete
against each other in two different age divisions (senior and junior). Boys from each year group
represent Sydney Boys in these divisions. They compete in front of nearly 10,000 spectators. The
nature of GPS Athletic competition is team oriented with a points system designed to reward a
good all round performance from a team rather than one strong individual performance. The
coaching staff stresses the importance of this aspect of the competition.
Athletics at High welcomes all athletes regardless of ability and it is our aim to develop you as
an athlete in your discipline. The strength of our team lies in the enthusiasm of all athletes
challenging each other for a place to represent the school at the AAGPS Athletics Finals.
There are tremendous benefits to be gained from athletics training; these include physical,
mental, social and educational rewards. I hope that you become involved in High Athletics and
that it is a rewarding experience in all these ways.
Good luck in the up coming season.
GPS. Athletics
The Athletics season is short, but intense, and the boys involved
always enjoy the experience. Boys (and parents) considering Athletics in 2010 should be aware of
the following points….
- Athletics does not compete with Soccer and Rugby. Boys are encouraged to do Athletics and
another Winter G.P.S. sport during the season
- Sprint training for Athletics is held after school on Mondays on Moore Park West and Tuesdays
for longer distance training at the same location
- Athletics does not continue as a regular sport after the GPS Championships – 18th
September
- Boys are expected to take responsibility for their own training outside these times
- High will host an Invitational carnival this year at ESMark on Saturday 8th August.
-
If your son is competing in the 2010 season please make yourself available to help at this
carnival
The Student Award Scheme and Athletics
Athletes need to satisfy the following 5 criteria if they wish to get the student award scheme
for athletics.
- Athletes must complete five of the six holiday training sessions at ESMarks
- Athletes need to compete in the 3 invitational carnivals
- Athletes must complete three athletics training session per week for the 4 week season
- Athletes must train every Monday or Tuesday in the five weeks up to the start of the GPS
Athletics season
- They must also complete another sport’s training session or a weights session
This may seem a lot of training but in relation to winter or summer sports it is relatively
light. Be commitment to the training so we can challenge our rivals

P&C Parent Information Evening
STUDY SKILLS & HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD
Dear Parent,
If you have a child entering the final years of high school, you are about to discover that the
HSC’s challenges and stresses are not exclusive to the students. As a parent, you can and
will play an important role in your child’s HSC success. Over the next 12 – 24 months
you will need to be a motivator, coach, supporter, tutor and you will have to do all of this
without crossing the line and becoming the enemy! Are you ready for the challenge?
On Wednesday 17 March at 7.30 pm the P&C will be hosting a presentation to our parent
body to make sure that you are ready for the year ahead. (Venue - Staff Common Room)
The presentation is to be hosted by Elevate Education. Elevate is Australia’s largest
provider of study skills programs in Australia, working annually with 350 schools and 35,000
students around Australia. The company’s study guide to Year 11 & 12, “The
Science of Student Success”, has sold over 15,000 copies and is used by countless schools
around the country as a standard text for their students. Elevate has conducted ground breaking
research into the habits of the State’s top students to identify exactly what these
students do to ace the HSC.
In their 60-minute presentation, Elevate will address the following issues:
- How do I help to motivate my child?
- What type of work should they be doing?
- How do I help my child to manage their time?
- Is technology a distraction or can MySpace and Facebook help my child?
- What are reasonable expectations I should have of my child?
- And much, much more.
This night is not to be missed and could help turn the next 12 months into a rewarding time
for you and your family.
